### Objectives:
1. Students will understand the different types of prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication).
2. Students will learn the importance of prayer in a Christian's life.
3. Students will be able to recite and understand the Lord's Prayer.
4. Students will practice creating their own simple prayers.
### Materials Needed:
- Bible
- Chart paper and markers
- Handouts with the Lord’s Prayer
- Small slips of paper and pencils
- Whiteboard and markers
- Stickers or small rewards
### Opening Activity (10 minutes):
1. **Greeting and Attendance:**
- Welcome students and take attendance.
2. **Ice Breaker - Pass the Prayer:**
- Form a circle. Start with a simple prayer sentence (e.g., "Dear God, thank you for...") and pass a small plush toy or ball. Each student gets a turn to complete the sentence with their own thanksgiving.
### Instructional Input (15 minutes):
1. **Opening Prayer:**
- Lead a short opening prayer asking for wisdom and understanding.
2. **Bible Reading and Discussion:**
- Read Matthew 6:9-13 (The Lord's Prayer) aloud.
- Discuss briefly what each part of the Lord's Prayer means.
- Write the types of prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication) on the whiteboard.
- Explain each type with simple examples:
- **Adoration:** Praising God (e.g., "God, you are amazing and powerful.")
- **Confession:** Admitting sins (e.g., "God, I am sorry for...").
- **Thanksgiving:** Thanking God (e.g., "Thank you, God, for...").
- **Supplication:** Asking God for help (e.g., "Please, God, help me with...").
### Guided Practice (15 minutes):
1. **Reciting the Lord's Prayer:**
- Hand out printed copies of the Lord's Prayer.
- Recite the prayer together a few times, helping students memorize it.
2. **Group Activity: Creating Prayer Prompts:**
- Divide students into four small groups.
- Assign each group one type of prayer.
- Provide chart paper and markers. Have each group create a short prayer of their assigned type to share with the class.
### Independent Practice (10 minutes):
1. **Writing Personal Prayers:**
- Give each student a slip of paper and a pencil.
- Ask them to write a short prayer, choosing any of the types discussed.
- Encourage them to be sincere and thoughtful.
### Sharing and Feedback (5 minutes):
1. **Voluntary Sharing:**
- Invite a few students to share their written prayers with the class.
- Offer positive feedback and encouragement.
### Closing (5 minutes):
1. **Review:**
- Recap the different types of prayer and their meanings.
- Discuss the importance of prayer in daily life.
2. **Closing Prayer:**
- Lead the class in a closing prayer using elements from the different types of prayers.
3. **Stickers/Rewards:**
- Distribute small rewards to students for participation.
### Assessment:
- Observe participation during activities and discussions.
- Collect and review the students' written prayers to ensure understanding.
### Homework:
- Ask students to recite the Lord’s Prayer at home with their family every night for a week.
